Mok Kam Cheung Biography

Mok Kam Cheung born in Hong Kong in 1945. Started painting as a vocational Chinese painter since 1987. His passion in painting was triggered after a serious car accident that resulted in brain injury. During his brain recovery he saw vivid colors in his mind and he urged himself to record the imageries with paintings. After his recovery, he continued to pursue his passion in painting and served as an Asian Art docent at Hong Kong Museum of Art. He graduated with a distinction from the Hong Kong University School of Professional and Continued Education program in Chinese painting and calligraphy. Travel, museum, landscape sketching, observation and memorization inspire his creative works.

Many of these paintings were inspired by natural scenes such as Yellowstone, Hawaii, and 17 Miles, as well as landscape around the world including glacier and canyon in Norway, cherry blossoms in Japan, beaches and coasts in Taiwan, and gorges and mountains in China. These places increase his understanding of ancient art heritage, inspire his creativity and nourishes his soul.

In 2009, he was selected to participate in “Beijing China First Chinese Painting and Calligraphy” Exhibition and his work was published in their “Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Collection Yearbook” hosted by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China. In the same year. His famous work "Ten Scenes of Wall” was exhibited in the “Hong Kong Biennial Art Exhibition" , published in the “Hundreds of Chinese Art Collection ”, in 2011. In 2012, he was nominated as one of the “Most Innovative New Artist” in Beijing. His works have been exhibited in Hong Kong and China many times as well as collected by art enthusiasts all over the world from USA, Europe, Japan, and Australia. In 2013, his works were published in Jilin Province Publishing House. In 2015, he was invited to publish in an annual collection by Jiangxi Art Publishing House.  In 2016, his work was collected in "Six Contemporary Chinese Painters Collection" Published by Beijing Ministry of Culture, organized by Chinese Artist Association, Chinese Collectors Association, China Literature and Art foundation. In 2017, his solo" Mok Kam Cheung Chinese Painting Collection" was published by Jiangxi Fine Art Publishing House.

         

莫鑑章,1945年出生於香港,2002年於香港大學專業進修學院獲“中國畫繪畫文憑”,並於2016年獲香港大學專業進修學院之“中國書畫研究文憑”。 其創作根源和動力來自旅遊、寫生、觀察和默記。由於喜歡遊覽,很多時候趁到處工作之便或假期到世界各地旅行,大多選擇大自然、山川、風景或參觀當地的美術博物館。 從中感受到大自然給心靈的滋養,増進認識古人美術的珍貴遺產,以充實創作靈感和修養。

 

2009年參加北京神州風韻首屆華人書畫藝術年展。

2009年入選2009 – 2010中國書畫收藏年鑑。

2009年香港藝術館舉辦“2009年香港藝術雙年獎”,作品“墻之十景”入選展出,並刊於2001年《中華藝術百家集》

 

2012年入選《中國創新書畫藝術家》。作品在港多次展覽,並得歐、美、日、澳、香港等愛好者收藏。

 

在2013年吉林美術出版社所辦的《傳承與典范》畫冊中的作品,創作靈感來自其多年所經歷的地方,其中選了“美國黃石公園”,北歐冰川和峽灣,台灣墾丁海岸,日本櫻花和紅葉秋色,香港地質公園和中國的河山美景,其中包括水墨畫和彩墨畫。

 

2016年入選“當代畫壇六人之約”畫集,該畫集由北京文化部文化月刊編輯,中國美術家協會、中國收藏家協會、中國文學藝術基金會協辦。

 

2017年出版莫鑑章山水畫專集,由中國江西美術出版社出版。
